Master Bathroom Retreat

This is a recent master bathroom renovation in Newmarket Ontario by Madison Taylor. The outdated traditional style was replaced with a classic but modern retreat.

Custom Vanity

The focal point is a custom vanity by Absolute Cabinets. The flat panel design and dark espresso wood are classic, yet modern with open cubbies for towel storage to add crisp contrasting whites. The chrome faucets are the Riobel Eiffel that have an elegant arched style, paired with Kohler archer undermount sinks. The full height mirror reflects light from the simple chrome sconces and adds a high-end hotel component.

Make-up Desk

A matching custom built-in make-up desk is opposite the vanity. Both pieces have white salt marble countertops from The Gallery, A Madison Taylor Collection. The existing Crema marble tile on the floor and shower walls was incorporated into the new design because it’s classic look was easy to work with. The crystallized white marble contrasts the existing veined Crema marble while together they harmoniously compliment the overall bathroom scheme.  An elegant white bench from HomeSense provides seating as well as ties in the chrome from the light fixtures, plumbing and vanity hardware.

Madison Taylor has transformed this master bathroom into a timeless retreat for the homeowners.

The Magic of Re-upholstery!

At Madison Taylor, interior design, we transformed this Luxe Wing chair that we found on sale at Crate and Barrel and gave it new life. This pink chair was ready for a make-over.

With Fabricut, Bellagio Velvet, in Peacock for bold piping and Crown fabric, pattern 36104, in 760 Foil with a neutral geometric pattern, this chair is now a unique funky piece of furniture you won’t find anywhere else. Upholstery by B&D Upholstery.

Madison Taylor, Custom Homes, Barrie

Madison Taylor recently completed a custom waterfront home where each bathroom has a unique design scheme.

New Home Bathroom

This bathroom features mirror all the way to the ceiling which gives the room a hotel feel. The mirror mounted sconces are from Restoration Hardware and the faucet is the Riobel Eiffel. These fixtures have a modern chrome finish with simple shapes that are classic and elegant. The countertop is limestone from The Gallery, A Madison Taylor Collection and the river rock backsplash is from Salitllo Tile.

Custom Millwork

The navy millwork is all custom, by Absolute Cabinets, and features a side cabinet with floating shelves for extra storage space.

Toilet paper storage

The shower has a river rock feature back wall and tub skirt with modern chrome shower fixtures, also from Riobel and simple white tile for the side walls. In the back of the knee wall, beside the toilet, there is another custom element of storage with a built in shelf area. From Concept to Completion: Master Bedroom Design, Newmarket

Madison Taylor Design, Interior Design, Barrie

This master bedroom design was inspired by hotel luxury and incorporates a grey, cream and steel blue colour palette. The wall colour is Knitting Needles, Sherwin Williams and a Crown wallpaper from the Kensington book is on the feature wall behind the bed. The grey headboard, re-upholstered settee and steel blue drapery was all custom made by B & D upholstery.

Design scheme

The bedding is put together from different places to create a unique custom set that pulls the whole room together.  The white duvet cover is simple and clean. The layered pillows incorporate steel grey sheets from Home Sense that tie in the drapery and resprayed dressers. The linen shams and striped coverlet from Elte incorporate the greys and creams from the headboard and walls. The navy velvet (from Elte) adds texture and contrast and a white metallic pillow from Home Sense completes the set.

The ceiling fan has a modern stainless finish with geometric details from Lamps Plus. The mirrored side tables from Union Lighting add sparkle and the white Home Sense lamps with metallic shades compliment the bedding.

Master Bedroom, almost complete

The master bedroom is almost complete and just needs a few finishing touches. Pictures of the finished room coming soon on our website.

Interior Design Trend: Carpet Tile

Carpet tiles are not just for commercial spaces anymore.

Madison Taylor Design has been incorporating carpet tiles into several current residential projects in Barrie and Bolton. Area rugs can have a bold impact on the space as well as provide comfort and warmth. A budget friendly way to get the same benefits is to layout carpet tiles to form an area rug. We love these ones from

New Bathroom Project – Barrie

Madison Taylor Design is very excited about this new bathroom design scheme. The floor tile will be a beautiful 12×36 vein cut travertine called black sea from Stone Tile Inc. On the shower walls will be a matte white rectangular ceramic to draw attention to the back shower wall, which will feature a metalic mosaic called ceramic di treviso, also from Stone Tile Inc. We plan to incorporate modern plumbing fixtures such as the Riobel Zendo and neutral walls with Modern Gray from Sherwin Williams. The custom vanity will be dark oak with a horizontal grain and have a Santa Margherita countertop: Istria from The Gallery, A Madison Taylor Collection. Progress pictures to come!
