The inset stone, Silver Onyx from The Gallery:The Madison Taylor Collection, showcases the stones natural beauty and ties the blue-greys of the walls into the millwork. The center bar incorporates a Blanco Rondo sillgranite sink and a Delta Trinsic faucet. The countertop is Meteorus Granite, also from The Gallery: The Madison Taylor Collection. Hidden storage below the counter and the Avantegarde beverage centre add additional function. Above the bar is a smoked mirror to reflect light from the opposing window.

New Projects On The Go: Creating New Inspired Living – Interior Design Barrie

Kitchen and Living Room Renovation

Madison Taylor Design recently completed a kitchen renovation project located in the Barrie area. Our client contacted us  to help re-create a new kitchen and adult living space within their existing home. The task involved designing a new layout where they can cook for their family and entertain for their friends. The renovation entailed removing a wall, installing all new kitchen cabinetry, appliances, lighting, stone counter tops by The Gallery (A Madison Taylor Collection),  a new kitchen back splash, hardwood flooring, a fire place unit, plumbing, furniture, and accessories.

As seen here an open concept was key, in-order to create an easy flow from one room to the other. A “L” SHAPED kitchen design with a peninsula was incorporated to make the kitchen feel more open and it also allows the opportunity to cook and entertain all at the same time.  The cabinetry is custom made and painted specifically for this project and included all of the details that were required for function for the homeowner.  A few of the amenities in the kitchen were pot drawers, built-in garbage and recycling, hidden corner cabinet, built-in knife block, pull out spice rack and bread drawer.  Another neat feature that was incorporated into the space was a built-in central vac sweep, located in the peninsula.

The colour scheme as you can see uses traditional calm colours with a contemporary twist. We have the medium orange toned hardwood flooring, cosmopolitan grey cabinetry and a lighter cream on the wall surfaces. The idea was to use a palette that combined grey, white, brown and black successfully.  We were able to bring the design together with a countertop that included all of these tones perfectly.

This unit, designed by Madison Taylor, was created for a small office space in the kitchen. Using a built in chalk and cork board, framed with half round tile to compliment the back splash in Calacatta.

Here we have designed a custom fire place built in wall unit. Using the cosmopolitan grey on the fire place mantle and darker grey with a purple hue on the above wall to unify the joining kitchen. The tile back splash surrounding the gas fire place unit is called Carrera 1″x2″ split face.

The remaining living space has been fully decorated and staged by Madison Taylor. A fresh coat of wall paint, an area rug in the centre to create a social space, with two lounge chairs,  a three seat sofa in a caramel velvet, and decorative wall art were added to complete the design.

Crafty Trend: Incorporating Family Photos Into Abstract Wall Art

Sourced Inspirational Photo: Above

At Madison Taylor Design, Barrie, we create rooms that are designed with a contemporary touch made to fit each client’s needs. We have recently created fashion forward wall art in one of our client’s home. Simply, by incorporating family photos in an abstract way on the living room wall. This look can be achieved by using complementary frames in different sizes with the same colour scheme, and printing the photos in black and white or sepia. This helps keep the wall art unified, without over whelming the space. Arranging the frames in a abstract pattern makes for a unique piece of wall art that has a personal touch for any room in your home.
