Bathroom Design: Custom Home Barrie

Madison Taylor, Custom Homes, Barrie

Madison Taylor recently completed a custom waterfront home where each bathroom has a unique design scheme.

New Home Bathroom

This bathroom features mirror all the way to the ceiling which gives the room a hotel feel. The mirror mounted sconces are from Restoration Hardware and the faucet is the Riobel Eiffel. These fixtures have a modern chrome finish with simple shapes that are classic and elegant. The countertop is limestone from The Gallery, A Madison Taylor Collection and the river rock backsplash is from Salitllo Tile.

Custom Millwork

The navy millwork is all custom, by Absolute Cabinets, and features a side cabinet with floating shelves for extra storage space.

Toilet paper storage

The shower has a river rock feature back wall and tub skirt with modern chrome shower fixtures, also from Riobel and simple white tile for the side walls. In the back of the knee wall, beside the toilet, there is another custom element of storage with a built in shelf area. This bathroom incorporates nature inspired finishes with modern fixtures to create a timeless and practical design.

Interior Design Trend: Carpet Tile

Carpet tiles are not just for commercial spaces anymore.

Madison Taylor Design has been incorporating carpet tiles into several current residential projects in Barrie and Bolton. Area rugs can have a bold impact on the space as well as provide comfort and warmth. A budget friendly way to get the same benefits is to layout carpet tiles to form an area rug. We love these ones from FLOR.com.

Basement Bar Lighting – Interior design

Madison Taylor Design, based in Barrie, recently completed a custom basement bar. The cabinetry is a dark wood and adjacent to the bar is a textured stacked stone wall. To make this area unique, we used a glass ball pendant from Glass Lighting Gallery, Barrie. The airy glass pendant adds sparkle and elegance to an otherwise masculin space. It also reflects beautifully on the low ceiling.

The focal point of this room is the beautiful copper vessel sink with mosaic sides from Kindred. The faucet is the Riobel Altitude, single whole, in oil rubbed bronze and the toilet is from Kohler.  The freestanding furniture style vanity is made by Absolute Cabinets and painted in a bold contrasting turqoise. The horizontally mounted vanity light is the Grand Edison Caged Sconce from Restoration Hardware.

The walls are covered with Benjamin Moore, CSP-1095 Fire Glow which gives the room a warm glow. The feature vanity wall is tiled floor to ceiling with 4″ x 24″ Calacatta tile from Saltillo Tile. This was from a unique batch that contains more rust colour veining than usual which perfectly ties in the warm wall colour with cool tones from the vanity.

Exotic Slabs from The Gallery: The Madison Taylor Collection

The Gallery, in Barrie, has exotic slabs from the Madison Taylor Collection that can be used as a showcase piece in your home. Madison Taylor Design took a piece of a onyx and to showcase it’s beautiful line work set 2 pieces vertically with a book match. The dark wood frame used to hold the slabs in place highlights the rich burgundy colour in the stone. The simple light fixture in front illuminates the bold pattern of the onyx  and creates a unique piece of wall art for the staircase.

Crafty Trend: Incorporating Family Photos Into Abstract Wall Art

Sourced Inspirational Photo: Above

At Madison Taylor Design, Barrie, we create rooms that are designed with a contemporary touch made to fit each client’s needs. We have recently created fashion forward wall art in one of our client’s home. Simply, by incorporating family photos in an abstract way on the living room wall. This look can be achieved by using complementary frames in different sizes with the same colour scheme, and printing the photos in black and white or sepia. This helps keep the wall art unified, without over whelming the space. Arranging the frames in a abstract pattern makes for a unique piece of wall art that has a personal touch for any room in your home.

Stay tuned for our up coming photos in our portfolio for more details and design ideas. www.madisontaylordesign.com
